U.S. relations with Mexico are not just robust but also indispensable. The extensive 2,000-mile border shared between these two countries includes 55 active ports of entry. These bilateral relations significantly influence the lives and well-being of millions of Americans. Various aspects, including trade and economic reform, education exchange, citizen security, drug control, migration, entrepreneurship, innovation, and energy cooperation, all contribute to the depth of these relations. It’s important to note that U.S.-Mexican ties aren’t confined to formal diplomacy; they extend to encompass extensive commercial, cultural, and educational connections. This includes a staggering 1.7 billion dollars in two-way trade and hundreds of thousands of legal border crossings daily. Additionally, 1.5 million U.S. citizens call Mexico home, and Mexico is the most popular foreign destination for U.S. travelers. (Source: https://www.state.gov/countries-areas/mexico/)
